A valve piston and return spring work in the same dispensing area, but each component needs its own comparison. Use the original piston profile, connection, dimensions, spring size, and installation position to evaluate the FROZTIVA 4-Piece Valve Kit as a candidate.
Set Up the Original Piston and Spring
- The removed original piston and return spring
- A caliper or accurate ruler
- A flat surface
- Photos of the installed components before removal
- Notes showing the piston and spring positions
Clean the parts so residue does not affect the measurement points. Keep each piston paired with the spring from the same valve position.
How to Measure the Clear Valve Piston
Overall Length
Place the piston upright or flat so both ends are visible. Measure from the lowest end to the highest point in a straight line. Do not stop at a shoulder or stepped section.
FROZTIVA candidate reference:
- Overall length: 82.3 mm / 3.24 in
Maximum Outside Diameter
Find the widest section of the piston body. Measure straight across that section through the center. A narrower step is not the maximum outside diameter.
FROZTIVA candidate reference:
- Maximum outside diameter: 25.0 mm / 0.98 in
Profile and Top Connection
Compare the full stepped profile, top connection, sealing sections, and lower end. Record any difference even when the two main dimensions are close.
How to Measure the Return Spring
Free Length
Place the spring on a flat surface without compressing or stretching it. Measure from one end to the other. This unloaded measurement is the free length.
FROZTIVA candidate reference:
- Free length: 94.5 mm / 3.72 in
Maximum Outside Diameter
Measure across the widest outside edges of the coil. Keep the measuring tool perpendicular to the spring so the reading is not increased by an angle.
FROZTIVA candidate reference:
- Maximum outside diameter: 22.1 mm / 0.87 in
Spring Ends and Seating Position
Compare the shape of both spring ends and the way the spring sits with the piston. A spring with similar length can still differ in diameter or seating position.
Build a Side-by-Side Comparison
Use a simple comparison table with one row for each item:
- Piston overall length
- Piston maximum outside diameter
- Piston profile and top connection
- Spring free length
- Spring maximum outside diameter
- Installation and seating position
Mark a candidate only after all relevant entries have been checked.
Errors That Change the Reading
- Measuring the piston only to a shoulder
- Using a narrow piston step for maximum diameter
- Measuring a spring while it is compressed
- Measuring diagonally across a coil
- Ignoring the piston top connection
- Forgetting to compare the original installation position
Pause the Comparison If
Pause if the original piston profile, top connection, spring position, or any required dimension is unclear. Take additional photos and repeat the measurement before choosing a candidate.
Candidate and Optional Related Items
The FROZTIVA 4-Piece Valve Kit is the primary candidate for this measurement set. The Dispenser Handle Kit is an optional related item for a separate dispensing-control point. The 10-Piece Maintenance Kit is an optional broader candidate when several component types need comparison.
Each product requires its own fitment checks.
